About my 2025 collection:
This latest painting collection explores ideas of breaking apart and coming back together again, both emotionally and materially. It reflects on states of fragmentation and repair, where shifting inner worlds are mirrored through natural motifs. Elements drawn from nature become symbols for human experience, holding space for themes of transformation, instability, and renewal.
Within the work, I use imagery from the natural world to navigate complex emotional terrain, exploring dark and light, ambiguity, and the fluid boundaries between them. Feminist perspectives are woven through this exploration, alongside a sense of the ethereal and the unseen, where meaning is not fixed but constantly in motion. The paintings hold contradiction rather than resolve it, allowing for tension, uncertainty, and openness.
This body of work marked a significant stretch in my painting language, as I deliberately moved into darker and more unfamiliar territory. Engaging with chaos, discomfort, and layered emotional states became a way of processing major life changes. Through mixed media and layered surfaces, I build contrast between light and dark, using material accumulation as a way to echo psychological depth and the process of coming through disruption into a new sense of cohesion.
