Framing advice
Before purchasing a print please read the below information to understand your framing options.
Ruth Egon's Giclée art prints are scaled to original size, to ensure the proportions look at their best and purposefully have a white boarder so you can apply a mount to the outside of the artwork. This is standard practice to create a space between the print and the glass when framed, which protects the print from picking up any residue from the glass and marking the artwork.
Using a local framers to assist you with the mount and frame choice is the recommended option for your artwork, and is often less expensive than you might think. A local high street framers will be able to offer you more options and advice with the finish and colour of frame. They will also secure the artwork with a backing, and finish it off with a glass sheet. Once you have placed your order with the framers you don't need to worry about any of the assembly.
Many online frame shops offer a custom sized mount you can order, and I can provide the measurements of your print with the delivery of the artwork. However, you'll need to be confident entering these dimensions into a self service ordering system. Most online frame shops now use perspex as the finish for the frame, as this negates the risk of it breaking in transit. This is something to consider for your desired finish. You will need to assemble the print and mount within the frame so it securely sits. If you are not confident putting this together I recommend using a local framers.
FAQs
Why do you not offer framing?
Depending on the style of your home, you'll prefer a certain style of frame. I would rather give customers a choice of using a local framers or an online shop to find the one that suits them the best.
Which option is more environmentally friendly?
Generally speaking, a local framers on your high street is the better option, as you cut out the delivery carbon emissions, and also avoid bubble wrap and excessive packaging.
