Environmental policies

Negating environmental impact that this business has is a high priority for Ruth Egon. Here are some of the processes and products that support her mission to have a positive impact on the planet:

    • The fine art paper used for Giclée prints is made using fine waste from other manufacturing processes (mainly clothing manufacturing);
    • I use a local independent business in Edinburgh to produce fine art prints, reducing delivery miles;
    • The canvas printers are a certified UK Carbon Neutral Business;
    • Where possible I chose to ship items using carbon neutral delivery companies;
    • Our handmade papers used for ink drawings are made from recycled cotton, they are individually set into the moulds and then dried slowly in the Indian sun. The machinery normally used to make paper uses a considerable amount of energy, turning paper pulp into a giant roll of perfectly dry paper in barely a minute. The water used in the production is then run off to irrigate the field neighbouring the factory;
    • Wrapping of artwork for delivery is made up of recyclable and biodegradable materials.

10% of Ruth Egon's profits go to Woodland Trust and she is currently working towards becoming carbon neutral. The Woodland Trust was chosen because capturing and storing carbon from the atmosphere is vital in the fight against climate change. The 1,000-plus woodlands cared for by the Woodland Trust absorb and lock-up many tonnes of carbon each year in trees, shrubs and soils.
